Richard "Rick" Hatchett was a guest at the White Lotus resort in Thailand. He went to the resort with his girlfriend, Chelsea, with the intention to confront Jim Hollinger, the hotel's owner whom Rick believed to have murdered his father. Enraged, Rick killed Jim, who was revealed to be his father. Rick and Chelsea were killed at the resort during a shootout between Rick, the bodyguards of Jim and Sritala Hollinger, and Gaitok.

Backstory[]
At some point, Rick began dating Chelsea. Together, they visited Bali, in Indonesia, Costa Rica, and Mexico.[1]
Season 3[]
Shortly before arriving with Chelsea at the White Lotus resort in Thailand, Rick's smoking upset Timothy Ratliff. Also aboard the boat were Timothy's wife, Victoria, their children, Saxon, Piper, and Lochlan, as well as Belinda Lindsey, and three friends, Kate Bohr, Laurie Duffy, and Jaclyn Lemon. After arriving, Rick had another brief heated encounter with Timothy after Timothy finished a phone call.[1]
Rick's journey to Thailand was driven by a need for closure around his father’s mysterious death. Believing that Jim Hollinger, Sritala’s husband, was responsible, Rick traveled to Thailand to confront him. With help from his old friend Frank, Rick posed as a film producer to gain access to Jim. When the confrontation finally happened, Jim denied any involvement but hinted at a ruthless past. The situation spiraled when Rick, before learning Jim may have been his biological father, shot and killed him in a fit of rage. A shootout followed, during which Rick killed Jim’s bodyguards but accidentally got Chelsea caught in the crossfire. Grief-stricken and trying to save her, Rick was ultimately shot and killed by Gaitok at Sritala’s urging.
