Bert is an 80 year old widowed grandfather who is part of the group of guests staying at the White Lotus resort in Taormina, Sicily. Bert wants to visit Italy with his son and grandson so they can meet their distant Italian relatives. However, things don't go as planned as the relatives aren't interested in bonding with them.
Bert engages in inappropriate conversations, and his behavior is characterized by his flirtatious and sexually forward demeanor. He interacts with various other characters at the resort, including bonding with Portia, who has a connection with his grandson Albie.
