Synopsis[]
As a new wave of guests arrive at the White Lotus, resort manager Armond tries to assuage an unreasonable Shane and his easy-going wife Rachel, while spa director Belinda calms a grieving Tanya. Meanwhile, Nicole suggests her husband Mark distract himself from a health scare by spending time with their son Quinn, who’s been cast out by his sister Olivia and her friend Paula.
Plot Summary[]
Shane Patton stands by, observing the loading of a box containing human remains onto an airplane. A week prior, the White Lotus resort on Maui welcomed a group of affluent guests, including Shane and his new wife, Rachel, who were there for their honeymoon. As they settle in, Shane becomes overly fixated on a booking error, leading Rachel to question their relationship.
Meanwhile, Tanya McQuoid arrives at the resort with the intention of spreading her mother's ashes. In need of a massage, she discovers that the spa is fully booked. However, Belinda Lindsey, the spa's manager, offers her a unique alternative—a ceremonial chant.
Nicole Mossbacher, a tech CFO, finds herself in a heated argument with her husband, Mark, about his potential cancer diagnosis. Faced with uncertainty, Mark chooses to spend quality time with their son, Quinn. At the same time, their daughter, Olivia, and her friend Paula lounge by the pool, indulging in some gossip about Rachel, who happens to be a professional listicle writer.
Meanwhile, Lani, an expectant employee at the resort, goes into labor, but Armond, the resort's manager, remains oblivious to her condition. As the guests dine, Lani starts giving birth.
Amidst all the unfolding events, Mark receives an important call from his doctor, but the conversation is abruptly disconnected before he can learn his diagnosis.
Finally, Rachel and Shane agree to put their earlier conflicts behind them and reconnect with each other romantically.
